Render Problems

PostFri Sep 11, 2015 4:00 pm

Ver 12 final: Render/deliver (on Win 10) to MXF OP!a XDCam MPEG 2 (1080/29.97) gets (unsupported format error) when my FCP broadcast station tries to open it. Won't work in Sony Vegas, will work in adobe media encoder. Any clues?

Here too.

Is the MXF from DR11 delivery page the same like MXF OP1A in DR12 now - or was the MXF in DR11 without any pattern?

DR11: MXF & MXF Op1a
DR12: MXF Op1a & MXF Atom
MP7.1 16 Core 3,2Ghz | OS 13.5 | 192GB Ram | Vega II Duo | Decklink 4K ex 12G with Quad SDI board | DR 18.6.3 B19 | Desktop Video 12.1 | SSD Raid | Advanced Panel 2

MXF Op-Atom creates an MXF file for the video, and an MXF file for each audio track.

MXF OP1A creates a single MXF file that has both audio and video in it.

MXF Op-Atom in Resolve 12 is the same as MXF in Resolve 11.

I don't know why other apps would not like the file if Adobe Media Encoder and Resolve can open the file.

Thanks Dwaine.

Two clients with Avid (7.x) have this issue. If we reimport the render file DR can read it. We export Op1a (dnxhd) only because they don't want Atom for some reasons.

Edit: Premiere can read the files, but Avid not.

Please look into this, my delivery spec for PBS is as stated in the first post. The rendered file from DR will not open in FCP (which the station uses to add branding). To keep using DR I render then transcode in Adobe Encoder, would really like not to have this step.

I'm guessing that your broadcast station is not using Final Cut Pro to playback files on air.

So what does FCP stand for in your case?

And if by chance it does mean Final Cut Pro, what version?

My editor uses FCP 7 to add lower thirds and station logo. She gets a unsupported file message from the Render

FCP7 does not natively work with MXF files.

Do you know what plugin/method they are using to work with MXF files in FCP7?
