Strange Black Band on 1998x1080 From 2400x1350

PostTue Sep 29, 2015 3:45 pm

Hi, I must deliver an RGB Tiff 16Bit and a dpx 10 bit Feature Film to DCP Labs.

DCP Labs require to me : 1998x1080 (it's 2K flat DCP) .

I set my project to flat 2K DCI 1998x1080.

My original files are 2400x1350 DNG stright from BMCC 2,5K.

My ask: why in wiewer and in export: h264, prores, tiff, dpx i see both left-right vertical black band in the start and in the end of the frame?

This setting in Image scaling will help me to provide the right aspect ratio and frame to DCP Labs?
IMAGE-Scaling -> Customized : 1998x1080 and "Stretch frame to all corners" ?

Hi Luca,

You see the bars because the aspect is different (1.85 vs 1.7777). Therefore you most probably need to reframe by fitting the width. From there, you have some wiggle room on what to do with the cropped part of the image, top and bottom. You could centre it to begin with, and then go over each shot and tilt it to your liking.
