out of topic / clean old 3/4 tapes

PostTue Oct 20, 2015 11:29 pm

I have an old tape that need a little bit of restoration I come from vhs dub to a three-quarter

I will keep interlacing because the final at 30fps will have it anyway but I want to know guys which kind of plug in you suggest to clean some of the old artifacts and details that it can be cleaned.

been sooooooo busy...

if infinate resources are avb, i'd look at the OFX version of the DVO tools.. but i think the priceing of them is close to the invoice for a Resolve /lLinux/Big Panel - IMHO nothing else is close to those tools as a plug-in for Resolve

I guess you tried the dustbust/Revival lite tools? i found them very useful, but limited once i rtfm'd it (thanks again Rohit)

Or off to PFclean?

Here’s some info on the interlaced/field-dominance issue and solutions:

Re:Vision reportedly has among the best de-interlacing software available:

I have the Red Giant package which includes “Frames,” and it allegedly has a pretty good deinterlacing algorithm:

The Blackmagic Teranex box is the “Rolls Royce” hardware method for up-converting from standard-def to HD:

I'm not sure if the Teranex will help solve interlace problems and artifacts per se, but perhaps someone who owns one can chime in and comment.

thanks guys, the interlace is not the issue, I van split the fields with nuke, scale and recombine.

is more for remove the analog noise and the chroma noise.

a simpleasure de-noise is not what I'm looking for.

and you can buy about 30,000 licences of Neat for the price of the DVO plug-in's ;-)

head to head, Neat/ Resolve/ Darkenergy/ DVO? DVO is a world apart in my tests... but you do pay for it!
