Fade In/Out Titles when Selected on Edit page?

PostSun Nov 01, 2015 6:39 pm

Well, this is embarrassing. Just when I thought I had the basics down...

When using the built-in standard titles, where are the fade-in fade-out markers?

When selected, audio and video clips have the markers on the upper left and right. For titles, these do not show up and I see nowhere in the inspector to do this in a simple way.

Note that right-clicking while hovering over either end of the title clip DOES momentarily reveal a cross dissolve menu, BUT it is entirely "grayed out" and unavailable. Why is that? Is the only method then to grab a transition from the Effects area (same place the title came from)?

I cannot seem to find the answer in the DR12 manual, so here I am in the forum.

Apologies for such a simple (?) question. Thanks.

There are apparently no fade markers, but if you chose a default transition, you can add it to a title by selecting the clip and hitting ctrl-T (on a PC, anyway). This will put the transition on both the in/out points. If you want it on one side only, select the cut point with "v" and use the "u" key to select left, center or right, then hit ctrl-T (assuming your choice of position has content to fade in/out).

You can also copy a transition from one clip to another, by holding down alt and dragging the transition to the new clip.

If you're fading actual character-generator titles in and out, you can do so on the edit page by putting in keyframes with the Composite Opacity control.

There should be sliders.

Sometimes they disappear or don't show up.

Re-insert text and they're back.

Drives me nuts.

It is true that the opacity sliders below the track sometimes kind of disappear and then reappear. It's a bit hit and miss, and I suspect it's a bug.
