Forget that!
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

Moving Optimized Media From Drive To Drive - Working!!!!

PostMon Dec 14, 2015 8:20 am

I am to confirm that I was able to move Optimized media files and successfully got them linked on another drive

I've changed Drive paths to a desired ones saved the project and exited afterwords then moved manually .Gallery and CacheClip to that drive. When I reopened the project every Optimized media have sucked up to the project and showed the image! Cool! 8-)

I have to admit that I gave up too early.

I never tried to move those other files manually after Resolve gave me so many "you've got no permission on that drive" messages. Maybe this could even helps those who lost optimized media in the middle of a project.

Are you on a Mac or a PC? Anyway, you deserve my respect!

I'm on PC and my specs are specifically under my signature.

Thanks!

The last thing that I'm willing to test is to move them from one PC to another, whether exporting project only is enough or should I copy the whole Resolve's database to the other PC...

There is a new feature implemented in DR since version 12. Under Menu><File> Media Management.
It allows us to Copy, Move and or Transcode the media used in the project. It's possible to copy the entire media used in a project or just the chosen timeline/s. However, it doesn't save the project file. The project file has to be exported as a .drp in a separate operation, better to the same destination in my experience.
Also, it provides an optional check box for relinking the media automatically.

Out of the three options, Copy is the safety way to use this new feature. Move is a destructive operation.

This is not solving my question, the Optimized Media is not officially movable, but I discovered the flow
