Resize - Filter - BUG?

PostTue Dec 15, 2015 11:32 am

Hello,

got following problem, i have a Tif with 2k dimension comes in Davinci , and my Output is HD.
I am not able to get a smooth resize! I render out, all options, from "optimized" to "billinear" and at the deliver tab i check the "force sizing to highest quality" button. But with it on or off, and all option, the result is the same. 100% (checked with difference)

I attached a picture comparing the scaling in Davinci (left) to the scaling in Fusion (right).
picture is scaled in the viewer by 600%.

1) use smoother instead of sharpen in the settings
2) hard colored edges + scaling is a bad idea. get a 1920x1080 version of the logo

Maybe you can trim, keeping your original logo pixel to pixel.
RED on black if not 444 always looks crap :)
This logo with any 4:2:0 codec will look "bad". Not much what you can do about it- you can try blurring it a bit once it's scaled, but 4:2:0 sampling will always be a compromise.

you should compare the rendered results, not the preview in the viewer!
and it's wise, to use PNGs for samples, because JPGs may induce artifacts on edges likewise.

for sure, the workaround is, and the best to do at all, to bring it to HD before loading in Davinci...
but i am wondering about, that all scaling filter settings in Davinci have the same Result ?
I know of a bug, in the version before, that the "force HQ scaling" in the deliver tab, wont do anythink.

Maybe its a bug again, or why is the output of "sharp" and "smooth" the same?

btw: the image sample by 600% is made in Fusion, there u get what u see ;)
