Restore Autosaves

is there any trick to this? my colorist is trying to locate an older version of a project, and said he cannot open the autosaves. The Manual only talks about the process of autosaves and not how to restore one. TIA

is it possible autosaves from an older version wouldn't work on a newer version? say v12.0 to v12.1??

funny thing is I have others that restore just fine, but there is a chunk of autosaves of the same project, form the same hour of working that don't work. then there are later autosaves of the same project starting at 6pm that restore fine...
