Resolve Installation not possible

PostTue Jan 19, 2016 6:40 pm

Hi Guys,

first of all, sorry for my english,.. im german ;)

So, i just want to install resolve, but somehow i have this issue:

After i startet the installation, a window pops up wich says "this account allready exists" (translation from german) and the installation-process stops.

Maybe this is important to figure out the problem:
A couple of month ago, i already installed resolve, but when i startet the programm a dialog appears that said that some kind of dll-file is missing. So i tried to deinstall resolve, but resolve didnt appear in my software-list. So i deletet every resolve-related file on my computer, because i thought its not installed! ...maybe a dumb idea?

My PC is 64bit windows 8

delete files without using the Uninstaller is a bad idea.

probably you have regedit keys that say that Resolve is installed even if no files is present.

how bad is installing the operative system from scratch? (last resort)

you can try to force an installation of a different version to see if it let you upgrade, but you night be in a big mess.

Yeah, i think i put myself in a big mess!
But as i said, in my "Windows-Software-List" the program didnt appear, so i thought it was not installed.

Anyway, beside installing windows from scratch, is there any possibility to get rid of the remained Resolve relicts, which hinder the "new" relsolve to install??

Thanks

If you know how to safely use regedit, look for this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/Version

Delete the version number you see in the Data column.

Exit regedit and see if the install will proceed now.

Hi Dwaine,
i just tried it as you said, but it didnt work. When i tried to install the same dialog popped up: "this account allready exists"

btw:
...in the regedit was another item in the Resolve-folder with the name "(Standard)"
