DR12 Studio Color Page Slow Playback

PostFri Jan 22, 2016 7:49 am

Running DR12.1, Blackmagic 2.5K footage, Timeline is 1080p. The Timeline plays back in realtime; 23.976. However, when switching to the Color Page, the playback dropped to 19 to 22 frame,
Playing around with different setting resolutions and optimization up to 1/4 isn’t help. Of course, this making impossible to watch and hear the edit properly in realtime during grading.

I never have this issue before not even running Alexa at 2K nor Red Dragon footage at 6K with the same Project and Timeline setting as the one above..

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When you say the timeline plays back in real time, do you mean on the Edit page?

When you switch to the Color page, are you on the Windows or Tracking palette? If so, that is likely the issue. Select the Curves palette and see if that solves the issue.

Could your RAID be very fragmented?
Check the true throughput and run a disk utility like Disk Warrior.
RAW footage from that camera can be demanding.
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

Dwaine, thanks for your response.
Yes. The Edit page. Playback is fluence there.

DR12.1 is playback with fluency in the Color Page too regardless what window I choose; this after fallowing some suggestions given by jdr at the bmcuser:

Uli, thanks so much for your response.

It wasn't a disk fragmentation causing the drop frames in the Color page. It's my rule never to delete media files from hard drives during editing or color grading, this, to avoid disk fragmentations.

Everything is running fine at the moment.
