Can anyone tell me why I am getting black frames in the Manual Color Trace mode?

Just a thought: go back to the original project, delete all stills, then Grab All Stills (from first frame). Save that project, then close that and go back to the new project. It's possible that now all the stills will be refreshed and ColorTrace will cooperate.

I have encountered balky behavior before with ColorTrace going back to Resolve 9 & 10. Starting with 11, it got quite a bit better, and I think it's been rock-solid in 12. My problem was, if I scrolled one of the timelines within ColorTrace, the system would freeze and/or Resolve would crash. I had to parse out the number of shots and make it a very, very small group (no more than 15 or 20) to avoid the crash problem. My guess is that this could have been a memory leak.

I have on rare occasions seen momentary black frames, but usually the timelines hesitate for a moment then it refreshes the stills and everything comes back.

marc, if it is the thumbnails, is it worth to open the old project abs simply ask to refresh all the thumbnail ?
