Key Mixer Question

PostTue Mar 01, 2016 3:25 am

Can someone please explain to me why you need to invert the input link in the key mixer in order to subtract from another input link? When subtracting from a window within a single node in the window palette you don't need to invert.

To subtract the circle from the square window in the window palette within a single node you need to do this:

To get the same result from the key mixer you need to do this:

I can't seem to wrap my head around this! Any help in understanding is appreciated.
