Video Output

PostThu Apr 07, 2016 8:31 pm

I just finished editing a video, which was a simple cropping and I boosted the audio. I then output the video and tried to add it to an intro I had made in another project.Output settings were just left as default for Quicktime.

I then took that rendered video and put it back into resolve 12, into another project so I could add some animated text and images at the start of it. I then viewed the playback and even though the sound was okay on the rendered part I'd just brought in, the video part was jumping along, missing frames and was not smooth at all... I think I've messed up somewhere.. any ideas.. thank you.

MPEG4 Video (default?)

This posting and then waiting for the post to be authorised is taking me days to resolve my issue. Is that always how its done here or is it because I'm new? :(

Use ProRes (for Mac) or DNxHD/HR (for PC) as your codec, MPEG4 is crap for anything but final delivery.

Excellent, thanks. So for working from project to project output in DNxHD/HR (I have PC) and then final output will be for youtube, so what is best to use then once the video is completed?

EDIT: I don't see a DNxHD/HR option in the list... Theres a HQ and HQX and a few others with resolutions and bit rates

I rendered using the first DNxHD option and got the required codec for Quicktime to play back also while at it... then tried the rendered project back into the timeline and Wholla! you were correct, so thank you, it played back normally.

So I just need to know what to render final projects in now ready for youtube...

thanks again. :)
