Import a .mov file in Resolve

PostSat Apr 16, 2016 7:53 pm

Hi everybody,

I'm comforming the grading of a short movie but I have to add some vfx shots that I have just received from the vfx artist.

He sent me prores .mov files but Resolve is not able to locate them in the folder.

How can I import them?

Thank you very much

Are they definitely ProRes files?
Open in QT and check what it says.
Resolve should read ProRes files, so something is not right.

There has to be something odd with them.
There is not other way than re-transcoding them with some other tool. e.g. Adobe Media Encoder, ffmpeg etc.

Thanks Andrew, in which codec should I re-transcode them?
Thanks

Are you working on mac orq win?
Make sure those files actually have .mov extensions
Sometimes quicktime files coming with no extension for some reasons are not recognised. Adding .mov to the files should solve the issue though

On Mac to ProRes on PC maybe DNxHD or Cineform (if you have Adobe).
Are these files play/open fine in other software?
