change out shots after grading

I imported an xml file into Resolve 12 and have done a first pass at grading a doc. Now, I need to change out a few shots. Do I create a new xml and re import it? If so, how do I keep my grading for the shots that stay the same? Alternatively, do I just import the new shots to the Resolve's Editing tab and timeline and just work from there?
