PC / Windows & Resolve

PostMon Jun 13, 2016 11:14 am

Hi, I've run out of patience with Apple. Are there any issues with running Resolve on a PC?

I believe Prores XQ won't work? and is there a problem with Windows 10?

Any other pit falls?

I'm not keen on making a Hackintosh

Thanks a lot

Hi.

Not sure about Prores, but I had problems with Prores in Fusion. Maybe they are solved by now.

But PC and Win10 seems to be no problem. My system is some AMD 6 core, 16 GB, GTX780, win10 pro 64bit and an Intensity pro and it runs just smooth.

Other experiences, anyone?

I have no issues on Windows. Works beautifully. The only issue is the way QuickTime works on Windows so it can become a bottle neck and not make use of all of your cores but you can transcode to DNx proxies and solve that. My work flow is pretty much always 2k raw so don't run into that.

I beleive there is also an limitation that you can not do a shared DB on Windows?

Personally I find that the couple windows / Davinci Resolve Studio works well.
I just installed a 2nd GPU well recognized by DR. I did different tests and whether the CPU or 2 GPU, all is well exploited for me.

The software is stable. OK, no ProRes but can be replaced with DNxHR 444 which is very good.
Like many, i just blame a little, but either MAC or PC, the program asks for huge amount of resources but overall the results are there.

For PC, i expect a lot of BMD for the replacement of Quicktime and if possible in x64 and perhaps ProRes?
