Reel Name Extraction

PostTue Jun 14, 2016 2:16 pm

Hi All,

Trying to extract a reel name and I have a mix of files... some look like this:

A010C006_151218_R0RL_S000.mov

And others look like this.

A010C006_151218_R0RL.mov

If I use the */%R_* syntax then it removes the "_S000" on the first clip, which is great, but on the second clip it removes the "_R0RL" which is not so great.

Is there any syntax that will count and keep from LEFT TO RIGHT the first 20 characters of the filename and then ignore the rest?

Thanks,

For the Avid AAF workflow in Resolve we use set name from Source clip filename.

Have you tried that?

Take it EZ,
Robert

Hey Robert,

Thanks for the suggestion, but this isn't an Avid Workflow, it's actually a project where I used the Media Management tool inside Resolve to make the raw files a little more manageable. Unfortunately, it adds that _S000 or _S001 or _S002 when you have duplicate names, which then causes Resolve to not recognize the file. If I get the Reel name from the embedding in the source clip file, it gets the truncated name that ARRI labels the original camera files with, so that is no help.
