DaVinci "Freezing" on Windows 10

Hi, I’ve been using DaVinci Resolve sporadically for an year. Unfortunately on my new editing laptop (1 day old) I have serious problem. It looks like DaVinci will freeze after few seconds of use. It doesn’t matter if I just go through menu or doing something else (e.g. like editing … whatever). Today I realize that it will not freeze … software is running but content of the DaVinci window is „frozen”. For example when it “freezes” and I click anywhere nothing happens (for example play video). But when I minimalize window and then maximize I see DaVinci playing the clip. I have tried several version 12.1, 12.5 beta and 12.5 always with the same result. On old laptop it works well (Windows 8.1). New MSI laptop is completely updated (windows, graphic driver etc.) and here is specification: MSI GT72S 6QE DOMINATOR PRO G, Windows 10 Home (64bit, version 1511, build 10586.420), Intel i7-6820HK, 16GB RAM, GeForce GTX980M (driver version 368.39) and the latest Davinci 12.5.0.052.

Any suggestion?

I have this problem on a similar spec new MSI GT72 dominator. GTX970M GPU instead of 1080. Program locks up on virtually any menu item action. Resolve 12.5.2 Windows 10 Home.

Have you tried updating to the Win 10 Anniversary edition?

I've purchased the same MSI G72 with Nvidia 970m.
I have the same problem: Davinci freeze !!!
I'm desperate with this: any solution ?
All apps Adobe works very well.

Mine is happening too. The later versions have gotten better early versions of 12 would freeze at the Project Manager.

With the latest version, I can load a project, but after a few seconds, it freezes. As above if I minimize and maximize the window, Resolve will register the click event I performed after it freezes, but then it freezes again.

Interesting, it seems to occur once i start parsing the menu system, not sure if this helps. Also, I am using a gtx970 as someone above. Perhaps it is specific to only a few graphics cards.

I'm reading da vinci's manual and it only recommends video cards with 12gb+ of video memory. 970m has either 2gb or 3gb. But can this be the reason that even MENUS don't open on start and davinci freezes right away?

I'm having a horrible Resolve freezing/crashing problem as well, since the non-beta v.14 install (beta was much more stable). The app crashes particularly when scrubbing through clips in the edit timeline but not so much when scrubbing the preview over the thumbnail or when scrubbing in the Color module. But it will also crash when doing other miscellaneous operations. But it's worst when scrubbing or playing video in the Edit module. It's so bad that I have to be sure to save after every step because if I play or scrub for more than a few seconds it's going to crash.

I'm working mostly in XDCAM MXF files shot on a Sony FS7. The problem is even worse when there are .MTS files in the timeline, I'm assuming because of the extra math it takes to work on them.

Windows 10 Pro (latest update)
