Noise Reduction Resolve Studio to Fusion Connect

PostFri Jun 17, 2016 3:53 pm

I'm trying to do a noise reduction on a clip in Resolve and send that noise reduction to Fusion through Fusion connect. The footage is 4k in a 1080 timeline. Is there way to get around Resolve cropping the image to 1080 when sending it to Fusion? I'd like to work on the composition at 4k and resize the comp back in Resolve. Or do I have to change the Master settings of my Resolve project to 4k, when I need to send a 4k comp to Fusion, and re set it back to 1080 when I need to send a 1080 shot to fusion?

If I use the "use source media for fusion connect clip" is does keep the original 4k file, but then I don't have the noise reduction applied.

Any thoughts?

or call fusion before making the noise reduction? The result is not as good?

It's for a compositing workflow, and noise reduction on the greenscreen before sending it to Fusion tends to pull a cleaner matte. So the purpose of noise reduction first is needed.

If you have a 1080 timeline that's the render res. If you need 4K for fusion you need to set the timeline to 4K.

Thanks Peter, this worked.

Setting the project resolution to 4k and scaling options in the timeline I was able to get the noise reduction shot to Fusion at 4k. It seams to work for a few shots but then I run out of vRAM.

Is there a way to manual flush what resolve is storing in the GPU, so it frees up the used vRAM? Or is the only option to buy a GPU with more vRAM, I'm currently using a GTX980 with 4gigs vRAM, I'm working with 4096x2160 ProRes 422 footage
