Easiest method of multiple short audio cuts.

Hi guys, I'm working on a video and I have added some background music.
I am very new to working with this program and I was wondering what the easiest method might be for making many small cuts in the audio. Creating a "blip" if you will at many moments to have silence as an action occurs, then have the music come back in once the action has completed.

Please let me know, I can't seem to find an easy way and I haven't been able to find a similar enough topic.
