playback/stop response

PostSun Jun 26, 2016 7:14 am

Hello,
All clips I play in the timeline in Resolve 12,5 when toggle play/stop with the spacebar I hear the audio a fraction of a second AFTER pause, meaning that the play/stop response is not as tight as in other nle software I use such as Premiere pro cc and Avid media composer 8.5.3. That is a problem when trying to edit music video on the bit!
I would like to notice that the problem exists in the edit module before doing any processing or editing at all.
just after importing a clip from the media pool to the timeline,
Tried to optimise media and playback and reducing resolution too, didn't help,
The problem is the same on my Macbook pro 15 and on my pc workstation, both new and powerful,
The files I use are of my Panasonic GH4 camera uhd 23.97fps ipb 100mb/s h264
Please advise,
Thanks,

Ilan

Hi,
Did it. generated proxies at quarter resolution 720p 8 bit. The problem is still there!

It is possible to have a link to download a small clip of fifteen seconds?

is this 4k or hd?

have you tried transcoding to dnx?? (hd/hr)

i've found .mp4 somewhat dubious in resolve (though i haven't tried recently - i like dnxhd playback, etc.,)

Hi,

Your clip as :
Vidéo
ID : 1
Format : AVC
Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec
Profil du format : High@L5.1
Paramètres du format, CABAC : Oui
Paramètres du format, RefFrames : 2 images
Identifiant du codec : avc1
Identifiant du codec/Info : Advanced Video Coding
Durée : 39s 39ms
Type de débit : Variable
Débit : 95,9 Mb/s
Débit maximum : 106 Mb/s
Largeur : 3 840 pixels
Hauteur : 2 160 pixels
Format à l'écran : 16/9
Type d'images/s : Constant
Images par seconde : 23,976 (24000/1001) Im/s
Espace de couleurs : YUV
Sous-échantillonnage de la chrominance : 4:2:0
Profondeur des couleurs : 8 bits
Type de balayage : Progressif
Bits/(Pixel*Image) : 0.482
Taille du flux : 447 Mio (98%)
Date d'encodage : UTC 2015-06-20 13:27:05
Date de marquage : UTC 2015-06-20 13:27:05
Gamme de couleurs : Limited
Coordonnées de chromaticité : BT.709
Caractéristiques du transfert : BT.709
Coefficients de la matrice : BT.709

But : Bit rate mode = Variable and H264 : Davinci Resolve does not like

One solution is to transcode :
File -> media management -> relink to new files -> Quicktime -> DNxHR 444 -> Render at source resolution -> audio -> Linear PCM -> GO

2 minutes for this job.

Thanks Claude,
Didi it too, no change. The pause command is still a fraction of second delayed response
I'm not sure its a hardware power performance issue
