Resolve Database Lost

PostTue Jul 12, 2016 12:55 am

DaVinci 12.5 (latest release)
MacOs X 10.11.5
2xQuad Core Mac Pro (2010)
28 GB RAM
Titan X Black 6GB
Disk based db

Recently switched to Resolve Studio 12.5. I have imported some backed up databases. Generally working fine.
I have spent the last 3 days working on a film project. This project is new not from a backup. Launched it this afternoon, DaVinci completely locked up. Nothing working at all. Forced Quit. Relaunched Resolve. No users no projects nothing. I can see the project folders on the disk.

Just to update this issue. Working with tech support in Singapore. California support never even called me back. I created a new disk based database at a new location. I then dragged the folders for the projects I needed from the old disk database, and things opened up and worked correctly. Not sure why this happened, which is the scary part.

When I upgraded to Resolve 12.5 i transferred my backed up databases. Upon doing this you are given he option of where to put your disk database. I had put the database on one of my SAN drives. ( the default location is mentioned in the manuals I believe it is in Library/Application Support ) After a crash when switching between projects I lost all the projects and users for this database. Nothing I did could reconnect to them. But all the folders etc were still on the SAN drives. So I made a database, decided to put in the documents folder on the system drive. Dragged my folders from the SAN over to this location. And the projects opened cleanly.
