Best stills to import

PostWed Jul 27, 2016 12:24 pm

I am working on a project with a lot of stills some of which will be panned and zoomed, I am using Photo shop to create the stills. I realize DR can work with most formats (TIFF, PNG, JPEG) but which ( In your experience) is the best for quality/ smooth operation. I have found TIFFs to really bog down the system and seem like over kill. I will have done color correction in PS, just using DR as an editor.
Currently I am outputting in UHD/ 29.97 and imputing the stills as JPeg wide dimension 4000px @ 100% quality. A look at the manual does not indicate what is best just what will work.

Jpeg is 8bit, so spending what you do may be not good enough.
TIFF can be 8 or 16bit, but UHD will be very demanding on storage.
Why not to use 10bit DPX?
