GPU memory is full

PostWed Feb 13, 2013 2:27 pm

Hello,
I am just trying to get started with the lite version.

I Have Mac Pro 5,1 single processor 2,8 quad core running system 10,6,8
with 8gb ram
and standard ATI Radeon HD 5770
I don't need high performance, I just want to try it out and learn the interface.

The program starts up, and after a few clicks I get
"Your GPU memory is full, Try reducing the timeline resolution or the number of correctors"
i tried reducing the timeline res. lower, and can't find the connectors that are referenced.

what do I need to get Davinci running, again not trying to get a production machine here, just a learning machine.

Looking of course for cheapest reasonable option, until I can decide if this is right package for me.

Do I need a second card?

thanks for your help

Try buying a cheap Nvidia GPU as a secondary card. You could find a used GTX 570 on eBay for 150-180 bucks. If you need to save more money just go for the beefiest Nvidia GPU you CAN afford. Buying used is always a good way to save money too. Also be aware of Power/Thermal issues.

The simplest option to get Resolve running on your current hardware is to install OS X 10.8.2. OS X 10.8.2 is required for Resolve to use AMD/ATI graphics.
