It would appear to be the end of Windows-based laptops for sure. I am still not aware that macOS supports the PASCAL architecture -- although Sierra may accommodate these cards. :?:

In any event it would appear that Apple is getting out of computing anyway, in favour of handheld mobility and content sales. You know, so we can amuse ourselves to death, and they don't have to make anything anymore.

You didn't hear it from me, but the new Apple Ring™, in addition to incorporating a phone, a music player, photo and video albums and voice-activated posting on social media, will have a secret decoder! :o

No word yet on what the gamma characteristics of its screen will be.

It is the end of Mac laptops for me. My last laptop was a 2012 MacBookPro as decked out as possible. With the GPU becoming more important than the CPU me and Apple ignoring the Pro market, the Windows machines are a no-brainer.

Having a machine where you can actually swap out graphics cards is more important than ever now. It's ridiculous (and quite awesome too) how a relatively cheap PC laptop can now outperform a full spec new MacPro.

I expect Apple may be slow to adopt this technology in their laptops, and they sure as hell aren't going to start allowing GPU upgrades on their desktops.

I'm massively impressed with all of these developments though, bravo Nvidia.

This ticks a lot of boxes (no pun intended) for me. I'll still look to run OSX on it though. It's not exactly pretty, but I'm willing to sacrifice that for power. It's gotten to the point now where Mac hardware isn't even in the same ball park, and it's time to move on.

Yeah, they're laptops, not notebooks, that's for sure, but at $4000, that's really impressive. The 120Hz screen is excellent as well. Perfect playback of 24/30/60/120 fps content!

Pretty sure that with the new TB3 equipped Mac's external GPU's will be finally be fully supported. An external chassis with even a single TB3 connection will provide a pretty decent amount of bandwidth (40Gbps); more than sufficient to transfer realtime RAW frames for offloading to GPUs for processing.

As long as I can do my work with realtime playback it'll be a cold day in hell before I choose to sit in front of a Windows 10 machine every day.
