Removing Postgres Database Lock

PostTue Sep 20, 2016 11:21 pm

Davinci 12.5 crashed while adding footage to pool. Now only opens in Read Only. Tried terminating backend process in Postgres. Didn't work. How do I unlock the database?

SQL Database? It's really simple on a disk database, you can pop into the XMLs and delete the lockID. I had this happen recently on an SQL Database, we loaded the project up on the same machine and it was fine, other machine's were locked to the Read Only until we closed it from the original machine. It seems to behave very similar to Avid's bin locking.

Try logging in to resolve as admin and unlock the project from project manager.

That's so funny. I've had the same problem before as well. I ended up opening the project in read only. Followed by "saving as" another project. Basically same project name with a "_2" at the end of the project.

That way I was able to continue working on the project. However, I wanted to get rid of the problematic project. So I jumped on another system and attempted to delete the original no good project...

Everything I tried to do would crash the resolve.
Tried renaming the problematic project and it crashed resolve.
Attempted to delete the problematic project and it crashed resolve.
Tried to move the project into an "NG" folder and it crashed resolve.

Ultimately I gave up and just worked off of the saved as project. Hours went by and I came back to the project load page and to my suprise the "NG" project had been renamed and moved in the NG folder. After that I was FINALLY able to delete the project by completely deleting the folder it was in.

Weird...
