I can't open the free DeVinci Resolve to my MacX. Has anyone else had this problem and if so what did you do?

Dear Dwaine

As this is a user forum, the majority of your support questions will be answered by other users in the community. In order to assist you with your queries they will need the same detailed description of your issue that any support team would.

For example, which specific version of Resolve. v12 is not enough detail. You need to provide the exact version string, such as 12.5.0.052. This can be found from the DaVinci Resolve menu in the ‘About DaVinci Resolve’ window.

I download DaVinci Resolve 12.5.4 from the black magic download page.

You should also report the exact OS version, hardware platform, number of and type of GPUs being used, storage type and other setup specific details. Many users add this information to their forum signature. This can be done in the Forum’s ‘User Control Panel’.

I am using:
* Mac OSX El Capitan version 10.11.6
* Processor name: intel core i5, Memory 4GB
* Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512MB
* Storage: 935.44 GB free of 999.35 GB (plus LaCie back-up)

when reporting your issue, be as detailed as you can with steps to reproduce the problem. Post online a screen shot or phone video of the issue if that helps explain.

* I clicked on download for Mac X & file download to my Mac
* But when I click on file in download it open my Apple Store without telling me what id need to open.
* So I close Apple Store and click on Davinci Resolve again and I get this, which is a zip file next to the DaVinci Resolve file. And then when I try click on the zip file I get a cpgz file which I can also not open

What is the address that I need to send the screen shot to? Anyway, my written explanation should
hopefully give you an accurate Idea of what's happening, which at the moment, is nothing but a lot of time lost. :(((

If you don’t have permission to post images yet, you can also place these in shared download storage locations, Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive etc. and provide a link so that other users can see your description and the video.

I’m not sure how to do this

If you encounter consistent crashing, it’s likely we will need all of the above information and also a special DaVinci Resolve log file you can create and post online.

The “CaptureLogs” application is installed in all DaVinci Resolve systems (except Apple App store versions). If you have a repeatable crash please follow these instructions.
1) Restart DaVinci Resolve
2) While holding the Option/Alt key, select the help menu and then select ‘Create diagnostics log on desktop’
3) Post the log or a link to it on a new thread with a description of the steps to reproduce the crash.

Often, your project export could be useful too as you might have a specific workflow setting that exposes an issue. You can export and share a simplified version of your project. You can follow the instructions below in order to export your project.
1) Restart DaVinci Resolve
2) Use the Resolve File menu, then select ‘Export Project'

I can’t Restart DaVinci because I Can’t open it. I can’t use the Resolve File Menu because I can’t open the file in the first place!!!
Regrets, but I’m afraid your answer hasn’t helped at all.

Thank you
Audrey

Your system does not meet the minimum system requirements, which I've copied below. 4GB of system RAM will not be adequate.

Not listed in the minimum requirements below, but mentioned in the Resolve config guide, is a recommendation that a minimum of 2GB of Video RAM (VRAM) is recommended for HD workflows. The 512MB of your system would not be adequate.

You don't mention the model of your Mac, and while it might be possible to upgrade the system RAM to 8GB, it's not likely the graphics can be updated to meet recommendations.

Minimum system requirements
• Mac OS X 10.10.5 Yosemite
• 16 GB of system memory is recommended and 8 GB is the minimum supported
• Blackmagic Design Desktop Video version 10.4.1 or later
• CUDA Driver version 7.5.25
• NVIDIA Driver version – As required by your GPU
• RED Rocket-X Driver 2.1.34.0 and Firmware 1.4.22.18 or later
• RED Rocket Driver 2.1.23.0 and Firmware 1.1.18.0 or later
