Is my GPU the culprit?

PostWed Jan 04, 2017 8:30 pm

I've been using Resolve for more than a year, but lately I'm having more frequent hard crashing. I've updated everything I can think of, but I wonder if my GPU just isn't up to what I'm demanding of it.

I have dual AMD Firepro D700s, each with 6144MB of RAM, which seems adequate. Should I expect to be able to color HD and UHD footage?

Do you have your configuration of the GPU usage setup for OpenCL?
Also with 2 GPU's, it's important to correctly set the other GPU related configurations correctly.
Just worth checking to be sure.

I have a very similar system (only difference being a 6core 3.5Ghz & 64Gb ram) and very rarely have any crashes.

I am on Yosemite though, not sierra.

The GPUs are ok, more than adequate for HD work and just ok for UHD (usually I work at HD/2K and then just output at UHD/4k when required)

Is it crashes to the desktop? Or does it freeze up and require a force quit?

It was crashing to the desktop frequently and the grey screen restart required sometimes.

I found that removing the Canon C300 mkii LUTs from the LUT folder made a big difference. Now I haven't had a crash in three days. (Fingers crossed)

thanks,

Okay, you're going to have to elaborate on that.

Were they applied in the color management, in a node, as on OFX?.... Inquiring minds need to know. Or is it that just having them sitting in a directory somewhere in the system causes a problem?

Also David, probably unrelated - how come you have both an UltraStudio Mini monitor and UltraStudio 4K Extreme 3?
