What am I doing wrong

PostThu Jan 12, 2017 7:14 pm

I am a new user and I think I may be doing something wrong. I am unable to unable to edit videos as they lag too much. Even when I try play them in playback it freezes. I have tried everything from a 4k file right down to 640x480 and still all the same outcome.

My computer is two months old. A HP pavilion which the sales agent assured could handle the editing of small 4k videos.

Specs:
Windows 10
Processor = AMD A9-9410 Radeon R5
RAM = 8GB

Does anyone a fix to this please?

Well I found out that its usually not about resolution its about codec used in video. Btw this laptop has a radeon card and as Walter said davinci needs a good gpu! I think your only option will be to use optimized media with a low quality for editing. It shouldnt be a problem then!

edit: btw the cpu is bas as well! check it out:

2600 point its not good and I think the gpu will be the same... sorry...

I couldn't edit much on my DELL notebook until I upped it to 16GB RAM. (now its quite serviceable)
I get by on an older iMac by always making sure my project setting for "Video Monitoring | Video Bit Depth is set down to 8 bits (seemed to help a lot!)
