Slow Motion: I Am Still Clueless. Please Help.

PostFri Mar 24, 2017 4:34 am

I know there are several threads on slow motion, but I am not familiar enough with the terminology used in the explanations to know if this will work for MY situation.

Here's what I want to do:

1) Have a video that will go on youtube, which I have been told should be shot and rendered at 30fps for best quality on youtbe.

2) I will shoot SOME footage on a gimbal and / or a jib at 60fps so that it will be "smoother than if shot at 30 fps"

For the clips that I shoot at 60fps, I want them to playback slow (so I assume I want them to play back at 30fps)

So what do I need to do to get those clips I shot on a gimbal / jib at 60fps to be nice and smooth (and slow) on my 30fps timeline?

Thanks in advance for making this as simple for me to understand as possible.

right click, clip attributes, change frame rate to 30fps.

Thank you, but I have tried that in the past and it didn't seem to work correctly (if we are talking about in the edit screen).

When I drop a 60fps clip on to a 30fps timeline, if I right click, it will already say that it is at 30fps. But it is definitely NOT playing in slow motion. It is playing at regular speed.

Maybe I am doing something wrong? Some people have mentioned doing something in the media page (possibly BEFORE adding the clip to the media pool) to ensure that it will work the way I want. Is there something I need to do BEFORE adding the clip to the media pool?

Check the other thread about slo-mo, it has been explained.
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

Ok, thank you for your help.

I apologize, but the original suggestion about right clicking and going in to clip attributes in the media page does work after all.

My big mistake was that I had a brain cramp and when it said that the clip and the timeline had different rates, I clicked on the button to change so that they would match.

I now realize the error of my ways. Sensei warned me not to join the path of evil...
