1) After creating a new power bin, and selecting it; dropping media into the selected bin adds it to the master bin, and not the selected bin.

Not sure if this is intended, but none of the new 'open as a new window' retain their size or screen position when re opening.

Fairlight page does not play/ is not working. Timeline occasionally plays audio but most of the time does not work, audio plays fine in preview. Also does not appear when exporting clips with audio in them.

Internal Audio (Realtek HD)
Windows 10 64-bit
Intel i7 5820K
32gb RAM

started once fine on win10 system.

won't start again, gets to Audio Plugin Scan splashscreen and just quits.

When it did run, there was no audio at all.

Fairlight page - wouldn't play

iZotope VSTs do not seem to work. BMD used them in the "What's New" video, so I figured they might work, but they only work intermittently. Sometimes works, sometimes has no effect, sometimes audio goes mute.

1. Compare timelines option only appears in a user created bin where timelines live instead of in the default timeline bin that Resolve creates for you on start.

When you change the lift or gamma value, then return to 0.00 without hitting the reset button it leaves the - sign, so instead of 0.00 it reads -0.00. A small bug, but a bug nonetheless.

DaVinci Resolve is crashing when I switching between Media/Edit/Color tabs.
In most case, if I started a project from any tab, this one is working but after switching to another one I got the black screen, then crash. Any work is impossible.

Windows 10 (the latest updates are installed), pretty much PC with the AMD Saphire Nitro Black 4Gb video card, i7-6700K and 32Gb RAM, RAID-0 for video and SSD for the system. DaVinci installation without SQL v 14.0.0b.020

Run the new program. Splash Screen appears. Stuff gets loaded.

There's an issue with a VST audio plugin. The small Error Panel (with an OK button) remains hidden underneath the Splash Screen. There is no way to access that panel. Twice I had to run Windows10 Process Explorer - to kill the Resolve task.

Solution would be to assign any Error Message panels to have a higher modal window value setting, than the Splash Screen...

A small icon of that Error Panel appeared off of the Resolve icon - on the Quick Launch toolbar. Had to take a picture of it, so that I could read what it said. My LG monitor is 4096x2160... :)

Decided to remove several VST plugins - maybe they are too old...?

Even with setting the timeline to HD I have the program crash when I loop a clip to work on the audio when the footage is UHD. I have several nodes on the video because all of it is already color graded. I have put the Playback Resolution to Quarter Resolution, but it doesn't seem to help. I can't adjust the audio at all because it keeps crashing.

The footage is URSA Mini 4.6K UHD ProRes 422 HQ footage. It was a project I did last year, and I did all the audio work in Premiere. So this is a past project that I'm using to test the ability of Fairlight. Sadly the crashing is a problem.

Otherwise, I've seen performance improvements every where else.

It crashes randomly (last time: while I was changing the source path of media, because media was moved to another folder)

Reading the manual on Fairlight is like this:

"This chapter will be updated during the beta testing period for the final release."

This is every chapter pertaining to Fairlight. Oh my. I think I'm going to have to wait for a good manual update so that I can at least educate myself on Fairlight before continuing to do a crash course learning by doing.

Smooth as butter on a 5-year old, first gen MacBook Pro Retina. Even with h.264 footage. I cannot believe what I'm seeing...3 nodes, 6 corrections, a LUT and still playing back at 24p.

Unfortunately on the Windows side it's a disaster. On my 48-core Xeon, 64gb RAM, Quadro M2000/4gb, SSD/RAID box it's still just as slow as it always was with FHD and UHD H.264 footage, and it crashes pretty consistently when switching tabs. That's of course when (!) it starts.

During the install, a panel comes up to indicate the folder (Blackmagic Design) where v14 will go.

I was smart.

Decided to create a new folder (Resolve14), since I didn't want the new program to overwrite the v12.5 stuff in the 'DaVinci Resolve' folder.

Fine...

Was working on some 4k Ursa dng footage.

Going to 'Preferences', I decided to remove the two VST folders shown in the list.

When I press 'Save', I get a popup panel saying >

Error
Unable to save preferences.

Attempted to make other misc changes. This results in being impossible to 'Save'.

Fine...

Performance on my machine is not great. Windows10 Pro, Quadro K5200, 64GB ram.

Thought I go back to using v12.5

The old desktop icon is missing. That's okay, I'll just go to Program Files and copy it back to the Desktop from the 'DaVinci Resolve' folder.

Hmmm...

That folder is empty...!

Guess I'll reinstall v12.5 tomorrow - when I'm in a better mood... :)

What is the minimum OS for this version?

Dito on the Fairlight won't play.

Also strange Audio Problems: Audio is only played a couple of seconds into the timeline. If i move the clips it will still play the same timeframe in the timelime, meaning a different part of the clip. VU Meters are showing nothing when music is not playing. Have tried with different media / khz / formats. Video Audio not working sporadically as well.

Performance on Windows not noticably faster.

Within ACES workflow. The setting "3D Video Monitor Lookup Table" is broken. Initially, after applying the LUT it looks OK. Once the the footage is played, the image becomes clipped in the highlights and shadows. It works fine in Davinci YRGB mode.

Not managed to crash it yet, in love with the video or audio only buttons on the source window: massive time saver, overall it seems to work mostly OK but issues I've noticed so far-

The 'i' & 'o' keys are not accurate intermittently when using the source clip window, edit page (in or out point set not near the actual play-head position). Accurate when button under source window used, but not always when using the keyboard (and sometimes completely ignored, even for multiple presses).

Also when outputting a file as a .mov using DNxHD codec (1080p 100/85/80 8bit) from a BMPCC timeline of DNGs at 30fps, no audio - resulting mov file showed only black in Quicktime 7.7.6.
Davinci did show the file in the Media window, but showed it a pillar-boxed 4x3 with a bad aspect ratio.
Didn't bother testing in anything else.

Output the same timeline again using DNxHR LB codec, still shows as black in Quicktime, but shows OK in Davinci's media tab (aspect not wrong), and could open it in 'Another GUI' and 'Handbreak', although Fusion 8.2 build 2 will not display it at all, giving a non-descriptive console error.
Syntheyes 1702 x64 will open it, but shows full screen white only.
Lightwave 2015.3 x64 opens it, but also shows full screen white only.

Handbreak rendered an MP4 h264 preview OK, and 'Another GUI'/FFMpeg authored an h265 webm file fine from it.

So very flakey/broken MOV output using DNxHD or DNxHR codecs, and the in & out point keyboard shortcut buttons in the edit page source window are somewhat wobbly too.

All this on Windows 10 home, Macbook Pro retina 15" 2013, 8Gig / GT750M

Will re-boot as a MAC and see if QT can see the mov file...

Small test of the V14 Studio (without having read the manual entirely) for 2 hours without trying to torture Davinci Resolve:
- a clip GH5 UHD 10 422 bits => perfectly read
- a 16-bit Cineform clip => perfectly read

Test all new OFX => no crash

A single crash: Fairlight tab => Curve and Automation Controls => ALL

It's definitely quite "beta" build atm and because there were fundamental changes to the engine I would not count for perfect stability for a quite a time.

I bet the game. It is a beta version and we are beta testers ... :D
Anyway, this V14 has potential. It promises.
Just a little bit of time (like the V12.x) :)

Installed over 12.5.5 ... opened fine and looked good for a few tests, but no audio. Then crashed. Will not now load past the splash screen at 'Loading Waveform...' which disappears and nothing further happens. Uninstalled and reinstalled, restarted etc. No joy.

Hi,

Resolve 14 beta works fine on my Windows 10 system except the sound engine.
In the Edit tab for example, when playing my edit I have sound output during 5 to 8 seconds and after that the sound crashes/is muted.
I tried to use onboad audio, external headsets (usb), and soundcards. I get always the same results.

HDPI (4K Monitors with active scaling) Problems persists in this version; for both the main program elements and VST Plugin windows.

I did find a bit of a work around if you are using the Windows creator update. There is a new feature to override scaling using the programs shortcut properties, but still a big bug IMO.

1) Scroll bar slider mouse icon and function not correct when hovering over slider. This may be a part of the HDPI issues, and using Windows Creator Update functions to 'fix' resolves HDPI issues.

This is using the window break out feature.

Busy with 14 last night till 4am.
I uninstalled 12.5.5, then installed 14. Had multiple crashes in Win 10 (latest patches) with a single h.264 UHD clip on the timeline at unpredictable times.
Uninstalled 14, rebooted, and reinstalled "run as Administrator" and was much better.
Then got a Resolve error "GPU memory full" with two UHD layers no effects on the timeline on my Nvidia 4GB GPU.
Restarted > set Preferences GPU to Auto > did a two layer UHD edit with color correction and PIP > Deliver UHD h.264 mp4 (auto - best quality) and 1080p h.264mp4.
So far, it's now stable (I don't know why) -
h.264 native timeline performance has definitely improved -
Opt. Media DNxHR HQX generation is much faster -
Render speeds are good -
Faster program load -
Output image quality looks great.

The 14 "Whats New" list is mind boggling so I assume beta testing on multi OSs will take a while.
Thanks BM - I love it.

Windows 7 i3 16GB RAM, AMD HD 6670

I know, I know it's old and slow... but with 12.5.* I could work flawlessly with FHD/30p H.264 files (canon 70D)

And now with 14b1 it struggles with simple playback in media tab. It plays at 8-18 fps and after few seconds it crashes...

The way it looks right now this is more alpha than beta...

-anything on the timeline thats not optimized media(dng) stays black and calculates forever
-get instant message: gpu memory full
-opening a 4k to 1080 v12.5 project wth optimized media shows all clips as 1080 crop of 4k footage instead of downscale like it was on v12.5

seems i have to wait a bit longer for the smooth h264 playback :(

Thanks a lot to the DR team for this great upgrade (even though still on Beta).

I upgraded from 12.5.5 Studio to 14B1 Studio, and most of the functions are working fine for me, except that audio doesn't playback continuously.

But if I switch to the FAIRLIGHT tab and then back to EDIT or COLOR tab the audio plays back for roughly 10 seconds and then goes off. No activity of audio is shown on the audio meters after that.

If I switch to the FAIRLIGHT tab again and back the audio works for another 10 seconds (audio meter shows activity) on playback and then stops.

Anyone found this issue and/or any workarounds?
