So I had Resolve working beautifully with iMac27" and widescreen LG as second screen.
Sadly I've had to move the iMac and lose the LG for the moment - but Resolve is stuck in dual screen mode (and the Resolve window is stuck in a much smaller window within the iMac screen) - turning off dual screen is greyed out.
Any insight into a way of resetting this? (v12.5.5 on OSX10.11.4)
Had the same problem. You need reconnect a second monitor, you'll then be able to deactivate the dual screen option. Once done, you'll be ok disconnecting the second monitor.

Now, this is truly ridiculous. Would it be so difficult to add a menu item that resets the layout or disables the dual screen? I cannot re-connect the 2nd monitor because like many people who have MacBooks, I sometimes (like every day) take my MacBook home to work on stuff. I do not have a 2nd monitor at home and can't carry one around with me every time I want to work in Resolve. An answer like 'Disable dual screen before disconnecting' is hardly satisfactory. Does anyone know of any other way to get a single screen layout without having access to a 2nd monitor?

Thanks Peter, I'm not at that machine until Tuesday but I'm pretty sure I tried that before without success.
I've got reasonably high hopes that changing my display resolution will force a UI reset... otherwise I've got a second monitor to plug in to then disable dual screen!

Go to Displays and adjust screen resolution
Start Resolve and accept the UI reset that is offered
And when I got back to normal resolution Davinci's issue got back too and did not help =( Reinstall Davinci did not help. I don't have access to my secondary display because I gave it back to my friend. So I can not fix this.
Go to Displays and adjust screen resolution. Start Resolve and accept the UI reset that is offered. Don't turn off Resolve. Go to Displays and adjust screen resolution to Your normal resoution. In Resolve - Menu Workspace -> Reset UI Layout. Save project, turn off Resolve.
I had this same issue this week... after working in a dual screen setup my regular 'Full Screen' display on my MacBook Pro ended up windowed. I could switch to a different display resolution (via Mac OS X System Preferences) and Resolve reset the app's frame size correctly for that resolution ... but Resolve remembers the setting you accept for each individual resolution, so when you switch back to a previously known resolution it reverts to the previous setting (ie in my case, back to the 'windowed' Full Screen display). DaVinci Resolve Workspace menu > Reset UI Layout does not address this issue.
However, on my Mac I could fix the issue by deleting the file: /Library/Preferences/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/UI.preset
It would be good if there was an appropriate app level solution for this, rather than digging through OS level preference files.
