Resolve 14 + Quadro 4000

PostSat Apr 29, 2017 4:43 am

So question for anyone from BMD or anyone who's tried this.

I have a 2012 Mac Pro decked out with 32GB RAM and Dual Quadro 4000's

Reading the systems requirements for Resolve 14.

"CUDA Driver version 7.5.25" - No problem I have CUDA v8.0.4 installed

But then if you scroll up there is this warning in the "Pre-Installation Notes":

"CUDA is only supported on NVIDIA GPUs with compute capability 3.0 or higher (Kepler architecture or newer)"

The Quadro 4000's are Fermi architecture with compute 2.0...

So basically according to the specs I can't run Resolve 14?

Can I put it Resolve 14 in OpenCL mode rather than CUDA with the Quadro 4000's if I uninstall CUDA and set Resolve to "Auto" or "OpenCL" ?

Or will it only run if I put back my stock ATI Radeon 5870 graphic card back in...?

Would appreciate a real answer from anyone at BMD or anyone who's tried 14 with Quadro 4000's.

Why not try switching to OpenCL, it might work?

OTOH, performance will be disappointing, I suppose.
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

You can run it in OpenCL mode but you should consider upgrading to a newer GPU.

Oh this is dissapointing.

For me, I will stay with the legacy version of Resolve where its not bloated with everything else.

I kind of like my grading software to be just that...

I'd take the performance improvement over a couple of extra tab buttons.

I'd spend the money and get newer GPUs.

ditto. seems rather strange logic to hang on to 'old' technology then 'complain' it isn't up to the job. of course, if it's a 'hobby' then sure, why spend money if you don't have to, but if you're working with it commercially, it's a no-brainer...

Look here https://developer.nvidia.com/cuda-gpus
go to geforce
the cards that support cuda 3 or higher should work.
