Solved a major playback issue with Fairlight page

PostSat Apr 29, 2017 10:19 am

Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to share this because it took me ages to figure it out.

My issue:
Well, I'll confine myself to the one I've solved.

DR14b1-lite. Running on my home computer. (haven't installed r14 on my studio machine jet)
Setting: Use system audio = on.

- Audio playback = fine in Media-page.
- Sometimes works on Edit-page.
- Does not work on Fairlight-page.
(it is possible to hit play. But Needle won't even move)
- On color-page Audio does playback when previous page = Edit-page
doesn't playback when previous page = Fairlight-page.

Solution:
On Windows, my basic RealTek soundcard, apparently, was running on 44.100hz at 16bit.
When I changed the settings to 48Khz 24bit audio-playback was great on every page.
([control panel] - [audio] - [speakers] - [properties] - [advanced] )

I know it's logical. But my Resolve systems have been a bit bias towards video performance.
System:
Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (version 20H2 O.S. build 19042.685)
Gigabyte Technology Co. Z390 DESIGNARE.
Intel Core i9-9900K @3.6GHz
32GB Ram
GeForce RTX 2080 Ti
Blackmagic Design Mini Monitor

Thank you!.
i upgraded to 14 and was going nuts trying to figure out why the audio was so weird. (not playing in the various panels etc).

Never thought of this.

Thad.
