SOLVED: Resolve Studio 14 won't open in OS 10.12.3

I'm using at an iMac 3.4 GHz. I have run Resolve Studio successfully with version 12. I have the dongle and it appears to be recognized by the application upon start.

Resolve 14 is stuck on the opening screen and never opens....


Anyone else experiencing this?

I'm having the same issue. It starts loading audio plugins then it stops and crashes. Here are my specs.
macOS Sierra 10.12.4
Processor: 3.3 GHz i5
Graphics AMD Radeon R9 M395 2048 MD

in 14 you can also press alt+[help] menu, the log capture option well appear there

Yes experiencing the same on PC system..others are too..Splash screen comes up then NOTHING !!!!

Awaiting a reply but there is a major bug there as my previous versions worked perfectly.

Any news on this? I'm not able to open it in 10.12.4. Mac Pro 12-core on a GTX 980ti, 32GB RAM.

I also can't open it, neither on a pc with windows 10. the windows pc is brand new and the macs are a few years old but running on the newest OS.

it just crashes at the loading screen.

Me also won't work ..i have a mac pro 3.5 GHz 6 core intel Xeon E5, 40GB RAM with AMD firePro D500 3072MB installed.
I have run Resolve Studio successfully with version 12.5 . also i have a dongle and it keeps crashes after we read READY ..

it work fine with my MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Early 2013) 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7
16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

so whats going on guys ?

I just Upgraded the Mac Pro to Sierra and the problem is gone.
Resolve 14 is working now fine with no problems .

The latest build works. I was able to successfully open and use the program.

I haver the exact same problem with 10.12.4. Both Beta 1 and Beta 2 don't work with my Resolve Stuido.

I'm also running a Titan card in a Bizon Box. I know this is not officially supported but I only use it to run my monitor to give a break on my D700 GPUs which have given me plenty of problems through the years.

The Bizon Box has worked so far with Resolve 12 and 12.5. Hoping this is not the reason 14 is not booting up, getting a lot fewer render glitches since getting it.

Well, I have the problem of Davinci Resolve Studio (License Version, not Dongle) does no longer open up on my Macbook Pro running High Sierra.

Has there been a solution to this problem or how I can actually get Davince to start? I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software, but it still gets stuck after loading the plugins the splash-screen saying "ready".
After that nothing happens and I have to force-quit Davincie to get it closed.

Would appreciate any hints or fixes.

Thank you for the quick reply Dwaine. It would have been nice if the program indicated that somehow instead of crashing. I remember running some sort of a check before installing the software and it said that my hardware should be ok.

Is it possible to downgrade to an older version of Resolve? I'm pretty sure I had 12.5 before and it ran. A quick Google search returned a bunch of download links but they seem a bit dodgy.

Resolve versions back to 10.1.5 are available for download on the BMD web site, in the DaVinci Resolve area of the Support page.

Hi I've just updated to studio 15.1 and am getting stuck on the splash screen.
Sounds like what happened here but something else is causing it.

iMac Pro 2017

Install 15.0.1 (you don't need to uninstall 15.1 first) and in Resolve Preferences - System - Configuration, set GPU processing mode to Metal. Save the prefs and exit Resolve. Reinstall 15.1. Does it work now?

@Andre: Download 15.1 now and install, and it should be good with either GPU mode.

I'm having this issue as well. Here's the tgz file -- any ideas? I've also been unable to create new databases without crashing the system for the past couple of weeks, not quite sure what's going on but maybe the two are connected?

Your Google Drive does not have open access, so can't access whatever you sent.

Are you really using Resolve Studio 14? If not, perhaps a new thread is in order. If so, perhaps you should try 15.2.3.

I reverted to Studio 14 to reset the GPU processing as recommended on this thread (I had that old installer but not the one for 15.0.1) to Metal, but still couldn't open it. After erasing all databases and files, I was finally able to open 14 and make the adjustment. Still not sure what is creating the errors when attempting to make a new database on an external hard drive, though...

I've updated access now, sorry about that (it was set to "anyone from the organization with the link can view" rather than anyone with the link). Thanks for your help!

Resolve is crashing due to database errors.

Is Resolve crashing when it launches? Or are you getting to the Project Manager page, and Resolve crashes when you try to load or start a new project there?

In addition to the default Resolve Disk database, you have an additional database in this location:

/Volumes/RudeGrooms/Video/Project Files

Is that a removable drive? If so, remove it and launch Resolve and see if the default Local Database works. I suspect there may be permissions issue with this path causing the trouble.
