Color Space Transforms - Beta 2

PostWed May 10, 2017 4:08 pm

While the Panasonic V-log gamma transform is available it seems that the Panasonic V-gamut color space transform is missing from the Color Space Transform from Resolve FX.

This is still the case in beta 3.

Is this an omission that is going to be resolved in the next beta?

I would appreciate a small comment from support on this.

Yep, there are some strange things in Resolve. For example Panasonic V-Gamut also present in ColorChecker Tool color spaces list, but more common Sony SGamuts, Arri and even BMDFilm are not there yet.
Try to wrote request directly to BM support, it works better than forum posts. They fix problems over time if it possible to fix.

Also you can use LUTCalc https://cameramanben.github.io/LUTCalc/ ... index.html to generate any color transform you like.

This is great! Now it is possible to use ColorChecker in V-Gamut color space, work in V-Gamut timeline and export to Rec709 with updated Color Space Transform node. As for me V-Gamut is better editing color space than Rec2020.
They also fixed pink color shift in Color Space Transform node when using Tone and Gamut Mapping. Gamut Mapping works vey well. Tone Mapping is still strange, it cuts blacks in very strange way. Amira709 1D LUT generated in LUTCalc produces way better and smoother S-curve. But maybe they fix it in final version too.

I agree, Gamut Mapping is a pleasant addition!

Thanks for pointing out the Tone Mapping issue, I would want to take a look at that.

You can add a monochrome gradient generator to timeline and look at the Waveform to see how differently that Gamma Mapping behaves with different log curves.
