Few days tried to make Resolve to work, lots of problems

Hi! I have a long history with Adobe products. Now I decided to cancel my subscription and I downloaded resolve, the free version. I am very happy about the interface of it, but the program itself feels very laggy and is barely useable. The playback starts with latency and is skipping frames etc. Sometimes it plays from the old place where the cursor was just a few seconds ago but is not anymore instead playing from the area where I added the cursor.
I already went to proxy mode, but it did not solve the problem. Now I am basically out of ideas.

System: Win 10 64
CPU: i7 930 @ 2.80Ghz 2.80Ghz
Ram: 24gb
GPU: Nvidia gtx 960 4gb

What kind of files are you working with, and what kind of storage?
