Resolve 14 Cloning Tool - New Checksums

PostThu Jun 01, 2017 6:03 pm

Hey everyone

Has anyone tried the new checksum options in Resolve 14? I did a bit of a test with MD5, CR32 and File Size. (Not trying SHA 256 and SHA 512, I know they take way longer)

I was a bit let down by the results to be honest. MD5, CR32 and file size gave me exactly the same transfer times, which was 17m30 for 45GBs to two drives.

Source is a USB3 G-Drive EV 1TB, destination is a USB3 G-Drive EV 1TB and a Thunderbolt Lacie Little Big Disk 2TB. Cloning was made on Macbook Pro mid 2012, 2.7GHZ I7.

At this point, I think it would be great to add xxhash checksum to Resolve. It would save checksum time, I know for a fact that Hedge & Shotput Pro can cut these transfers time in half.
