14b3 studio crawling at load time.

PostThu Jun 08, 2017 6:42 pm

Hi,

I recently downloaded Resolve v14b3 Studio and it loads but very very slowly. I mean approx 15 mins to load. it runs perfectly fine after it loads. I've had a look for the log file but cannot find it?
Any help appreciated.

I'm not seeing this. What OFX plugins do you have - I find when the plugins change that Resolve takes a long time to start. Maybe it's going through that sequence each time you start due to some plugin or system error? Can you tell from the logs?

I find this happens most often after my computer wakes from a sleep state. It's more prevalent if I use hibernation. If I reboot the machine everything always goes back to normal.

Hi,
found the logs this is plastered all over them:

"socket failed to connect to server, error: 10061"

any ideas?

I don't have any additional plugins at the the moment.

The log files are too large to post which files are most prevalent?

I thought I'd solved it when I updated the gtx 970 driver but no it worked once and now it's back to it's old tricks.

So heres a link to the logs, I hope someone can help?

I Decided to time the load it took 37mins surely that is unacceptable even for a beta.

Can anybody please help?

Or should I go back studio 12.5 and see if that's any better, just wait for another beta to be released?

I'm tempted to snidely suggest you install Win7 -- load time is a matter of seconds, with the betas -- but Win10 Home isn't officially supported either. Uninstall the beta and try 12.5.5. If you see the same behavior, you know it's something in your system.

If not, upload the log file to something like dropbox, with a link for BMD tech support:

Just tried 12.5 and it's the same???

I'm beginning to think it's the dongle? Any Ideas?

I doubt it's the dongle, but uninstall Studio, remove the dongle and install the free version of 12.5.5 and see what you get. There's a Microsoft cleanup tool you might want to run after uninstalling, it's referenced in another thread somewhere here.

It seems to indicate you have an issue connecting to the shared database. It might indicate a networking issue (e.g. firewall, hosts, routing etc) or a problem with the database.

I would immediately backup the database and then I would try if it works with a local or a new database to isolate the problem.

I've upgraded to win10pro.

Resolve ran twice with no problem but 3rd time not so lucky!

Hmmm back to the drawing board.

In another thread where I was having trouble with my dongle it was suggested I try another USB port. It fixed the dongle problem but also of note appears to have fixed the slow loading problem. well so far 3 loads and counting.

Adam.

I hate the dongle. I spent weeks tracking down an intermittent and obscure BSOD that was, in the end, caused by the dongle. I finally plugged the dongle into a different port (by accident) and the problem disappeared.

Dongles are fine - never had an issue with it. Would be ok too if BMD implemented the dongle as an option... I like the idea of taking my license with me if I do any remote work (where internet connectivity may not be available).

Resolve 14b3 loads to the project page in 15 seconds on my underwhelming 2009 machine (Windows 10 Pro)...
