Timecode overlay in timeline viewer....

PostThu Jun 15, 2017 6:36 pm

I can't seem to find this anywhere in the manual. I want to turn on a overlay of timecode for all clips in the timeline viewer - video and audio. Is this possible in Resolve? It seems like it must be as it's available in every other app I use. Hmmmm......

On the Color page, click the "flame" icon (for "burn-in") on the far right of the tool bar. It offers many data burn-in options.

Is that what you mean?

Looking for the same thing.
Davinci Resolve Studio v14.0.0.078 / Windows 10 Pro

There's no "Data Burn In" menu option in the View Menu that I seem to be able to find.
I did find a "Data Burn In" menu option in the Workspace Menu, and while that offers a myriad of options I can't seem to figure out a way to configure it to enable full TC overlays in the Edit page Program/Record monitor for all video and audio tracks... best I managed was "Source Timecode" for the uppermost video clip + "Audio Timecode" for the audio clip linked to the uppermost video clip ... and in this case I'm particularly trying to see source timecode for an audio only clip on track A10.

Note: At the end of the day, I'm not looking to burn anything in, just looking for an overlay, same as View menu > Safe Area > On

Would much appreciate some more guidance on this.

It's under the "Workspace"menu.
Page 1081 of the V14 manual.

What you are asking cannot be done in V14.

Yes I know FCP 7 had this and I wish DR had it too.

Timecode overlays don't exist in Resolve, unlike FCP7 & Premiere.
You could use the Edit Index on the edit page as a stopgap but it won't do exactly the same thing.

Thanks Jack and Peter for the quick replies.
Am a bit surprised by the omission of overlays / timecode window. I don't think I've ever worked on a NLE that didn't show clip timecode at playhead data somewhere within the UI, but I'll survive ... probably wouldn't even have noticed if I hadn't expressly needed it.
I guess it's something for the Resolve 15 | Big Feature Request list thread.
Cheers
