why needs the stabilizer to analyze again?

PostTue Jun 20, 2017 8:48 pm

Hi,

why does the new stabilizer needs to analyze the the complete clip again, when changing parameters?
The video shaking will stay the same off course.

Is this a bug?

It should only be when you extend clip.

Not necessarily - if you change certain parameters the algorithm needs to change how it analyzes the image. Which parameters are you changing?

sorry for my late reply.

When switching between the mode (perspective, similarity, translation), it is ok, that it needs to analyze the clip again.

But if I only change values for cropping ratio or smooth, then why do i need to hit stabilize agian to take effect and why does the analyzing takes the same time as before?

OK, maybe there is some more calculation needed, but based on the analyzis already done. we dont need to start at zero ground again.

Other sowftware like pinnacle studio or corel video deluxe analyze only once, then you can edit the zooming, smoothnes without re-analyzing

agreed.
It is a really slow process at the moment, especially with clients - each change of a parameter means the entire clip needs to be re-analysed seemingly from scratch. The old stabiliser didn't need to and others like adobes warp stabiliser also don't.

I'm sure there is a reason why it is the way it is, but it is just a bit unfortunate as it really slows sessions down as we all sit and wait for it to analyse over and over.

At least that is what it seems to be doing on 14b4 on OSX 10.12.5 mac pro D700s.

Well if you change anything which affects frame size/individual pixel position then yes. If you change just e.g. grade then it shouldn't.
