Resolve Beta 5 is more buggy then v4

PostFri Jul 21, 2017 12:07 pm

Resolve beta 5 is more buggy than v4 for me....anyone else share the same views....would sadly go back to v4 of the Beta

problems:

1. the video track footage disappears from view when i scroll the tracks in certain instances meaning you can't edit them....have to work around what is visible or not on my screen (whoever also has this problem will know what i mean)
2. still have issues where I resize a piece of footage using keyframes e.g. from 100% to 150% but don't see it happening in front of me, and e.g I see it has resized a power window mask instead of the footage.....have to quit and then restart DaVinci and then it works......

i am suffering from inconsistencies like these...but those two are the most annoying.....its REALLY setting me back on producing stuff.....

My equipment:
Mac Pro - 3.7ghz quad-core Intel Xeon E5 - 12GB ram - AMD Firepro D300 2048 mb card
Mac OS Sierra v 10.12.5
LG Ultrawide 34" display

It is a terrible idea to use beta software for anything where important timelines could be affected or you may otherwise be at risk of monetary loss.

Yes but if BM don't give us an option to run 2 versions alongside each other then this is the only way to test it. Not everyone has a second machine they can install a beta version on or the time to uninstall and reinstall different versions to carry out a bit of testing.

I am also experiencing disappearing video clips on the edit page but mostly on the deliver page.

I'm unable to paste when renaming a sequence as well. Really annoying when I've got a long list of clock numbers from my client....

C'mon, you are on a Mac!
Make a second boot disk and play with the beta from that one. I always do this if I need to work with pre-release software on a production machine. I wouldn't want DR to mess with my databases either.
No, an iGPU is not enough, and you can't use HEVC 10 bit 4:2:2 in the free version.

Or just leave the beta testing to the more adventurous people. :)

I agree being able to install the versions in parallel would be better for Blackmagic as it would expand the scope of user testing.
