Mac OSX minimum spec?

PostThu Jul 27, 2017 9:15 am

I have a 9 year old Mac Pro: (2x2.8 Ghz Quad core Intel Xeon. 14gb Ram)

I guess I need to upgrade.
I do simple A and B roll editing with occasionally some motion graphics and grading.
What would you say was the minimum spec I should look to get to run Resolve.
I'm thinking of a used 27" iMac

Thanks for any advice.

Which model MacPro exactly is that? 3,1 or 4,1 or 5,1?
The latter two can be upgraded quite well for serious work.

If you go the iMac route, get a model with 4 GB VRAM to be future proof.
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

Studio 18.6.6, MacOS 13.6.6, 2017 iMac, 32 GB, Radeon Pro 580
MacBook M1 Pro, 16 GPU cores, 32 GB RAM and iPhone 15 Pro

Very true the 4,1 (2009) can still be upgraded to a powerful Resolve machine.
there are CPU, RAM and GPU (flashed or not) upgrades available for it online
