Power window tracker points are wrong

PostMon Aug 14, 2017 7:56 pm

I'm running into a strange issue that I've never seen before. On 12.5.6, I'm trying to track a circular power window, and the cloud of tracker points that's being generated is clustered together very tightly in a rectangle, completely outside the circular power window. The points Resolve is grabbing seem to be completely random and unrelated to the circular power window.

Is this just some kind of nasty bug or am I doing something wrong?

That is very definitely a bug.

I would try this: save this correction as a still. Start a new version for this shot. Blow everything away down to one empty node. Open up the Gallery still node tree and drag in the individual nodes, one at a time, but avoid the bad power window. Once you're done, close the Still window and create a new Power Window node. Now try to track that and see if it works.

My take is that a bit of file corruption can creep in and cause small problems like this. I just had it happen in v14b6, so some of that code is still present. Sometimes my fix will work, sometimes not. I've never seen the tracking pattern assume the wrong shape, but I have seen it get offset by X number of pixels (even with non-anamorphic material).

If this continues to happen Sean. could you share some detail. OS will help, even a phone video of the occurrence?

Thanks for the suggestion, Marc. I'll give it a try.

Peter, here's a video showing the bug. This is the free version of Resolve 12.5.6 on macOS 10.12.6.

Unfortunately, the workaround didn't work, Marc. :(

Let's hope Blackmagic can get to the bottom of this.
