In an Explorer window, run C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\CaptureLogs.bat and provide a link to the generated .zip logs file.

It is a chinese laptop... Cube I7 Book. Running an Intel Core m3-6y30 with Intel 515 graphics and 4 gb of ram.

I know, it is a bit under powered, but with his internal ssd and an external ssd (plug in the usb c port) I was perfectly able to edit 1080p (I some heavy grading too) using proxy in Resolve 12.5.

It was even a bit smoother than my full fledge desktop (running an i7 with 16gb of ram) since my destop is still using an internal hdd.

The issue in both cases is that Resolve sees 2 GPU's and it's crashing when it tries to initialize the second GPU.

For Junior, please remove one of the AMD GPU cards, as a test, and see if Resolve will run properly with a single GPU.

For Fred, your system has CPU integrated Intel HD graphics. I'm not sure why Resolve would be seeing 2 HD515 GPU's in that case. But it does, and it's crashing when it tries to initialize the second one. Can you run System Information, and save the .NFO file and link to that? I'm curious to see what it shows as detected GPUs. If, by chance, there really are 2 HD515's somehow, and your BIOS can disable one of them, that would be worth trying.

DR 14 Studio crashes at "loading wavefrom Monitor" as well but in a strange way... DR 14 (Non Studio) loads without a problem!

I am using two GPUs as well so maybe something is going on there.

I just uninstalled everything and reinstalled 12.5 Studio because i need it for work. I hope the next beta of DR 14 Studio will run like DR 14 free version does. :)

@Miltos: Since non-Studio Resolve would only initialize 1 GPU, that seems very likely that the 2nd GPU is causing the issue. Can you give us additional detail on your system specifics?

@Fred: the NFO only shows a single HD515 device, which makes total sense and would be expected. So I don't know why Resolve thinks it sees 2 OpenCL devices. Hopefully the development folks can work this out. In the meantime, if you'd like to install non-Studio Resolve, I'll bet it will work for you, same as it did for Miltos.

Thank for your help.
The Gpu was acutally a single gpu with dual processor
I dont know if it is adviceable to disable one. That means DR 14 didnt recognise the crossfire. hope update will improve that. DR12.55 Does recognised it and ran smoothly. I reinstalled 12.5 and it was ok but my project was affected badly . Doesnt run smoothly. Thank you

@ Dwayne Actually, I am trying to run the non-studio version... The 12.5.5 non-studio is working flawlessly... That means that the problem is related with Davinci Resolve 14... Hope the developers will be able to fix it!

P.S. I might be wrong, I am not sure... In 12.5, I think that in the settings I was seeing two 515 gpu... At the time I think I found it strange. But as I said, I am not sure... To be sure, I am reinstalling 12.5.5 to verify. Will keep you up to date!

Uninstall 14, reinstall 12.5.5.

In the Resolve Database Manager window, make a new database. Then select that database.

Don't create a project in the new database.

Now install 14b2 again and see if it will launch.

I had a similar problem to this. But even b3 didn't solve it. Nothing I tried worked, moving config.dat, creating new database, even nuking all of Resolve from my computer with projects and databases. In order to get it to open, I had to disable my iGPU completely and use my discrete card only. Which brings some issues of its own with the recent AMD card issues.

I can provide logs if needed.

Is there any definitive way to fix this yet? I'm having exactly the same issue. It installs perfectly fine but it fails on started at the Loading waveform monitor. So far i have tried all the beta releases including the latest b4 version but still no luck. I also did the new database fix as suggest but to no avail. I can install and run 12.5 fine. I'm on windows7

Hello There Dwaine Maggart

I am brand new at the game of editing and even computers
I had a read trough this whole tread and there is just no way i can get DaVinci Resolve "14DaVinci_Resolve_14.0b6_Windows" to run on my Laptop Dell Inspiron
dell.com/en-us/shop/productdetails/inspiron-1525

I can run 12 "DaVinci_Resolve_12.5.6_Windows" without any problem..

I did make a new DB as you suggested, still no luck i in fact made 3 db just to make sure i did it correctly and still no luck 14 just dont want to start :(

Here the the file that you have asked for
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BwmBi ... 3F5clg0Tzg

Please see if you can help out with this bug ... if you need any info just ask

Again Thank you for all the help on the forums

@Mark: You appear to have created your new DB14 database in the same path as the original database. That likely means its still seeing your original projects.

Put 12.5 back in, make a new Disk database in a path other than C\ProgramData\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\Resolve Disk Database.

Try somewhere like your user Documents folder, or somewhere like that.

Because the installer does not care. It will happily install it. It might even work, to some degree, on some systems. But if it doesn't work, we can't help with that.

@ Ben & Ronny & ANYONE else having issues with AMD Radeon series GPUs in Resolve after installing Adrenaline (or any version) drivers, I would recommend the following:

Install the current version of Display Driver Uninstaller, AKA DDU, from here:

https://www.wagnardsoft.com/

Uninstall the current AMD driver, whatever it is, and install the Crimson 17.11.4 driver here:

@Jeremy: Google is not allowing access to your files.

@Ru: We need more info about your system, including Resolve logs, OS version and hardware, in particular the GPU info. And are you using Apple App Store version, or a version downloaded from the BMD Resolve Support area?

downgrading to the version "Adrenalin 2019 Edition 18.12.2" fix it for me (luckily) because it's the first driver version compatible to the rx 590.
thanks for the help :)

I had the same problem ("Loading waveform Monitor") with DR15.2.2. on win10 with RX590 card.
After downgrading Adrenalin, problem disappeared so seems the problem is with new driver (19.1.1).

Dwaine Maggart wrote:@ Ben & Ronny & ANYONE else having issues with AMD Radeon series GPUs in Resolve after installing Adrenaline (or any version) drivers, I would recommend the following:

Install the current version of Display Driver Uninstaller, AKA DDU, from here:

Uninstall the current AMD driver, whatever it is, and install the Crimson 17.11.4 driver here:

Installed the driver you suggested, the problem is solved. Thank you so much for the great service. Blackmagicdesign is lucky to have you.

Davinci 15 works fine now with AMD Crimson Relive 17.11.4, but AMD suggested me to upgrade to 19.1. Does it still work after the upgrade?

I also have AMD RX590 driver version 19.2.1 (latest 2019-02-04 I think) and having the same problem. Actually I have it as an eGPU in a Akitio Node case. But that aside, as described below, I experience the same situation Intel's Hades Canyon which also contains a discrete graphics processor.

I already brought this issue of hanging at 'loading waveform monitor' to the attention of Peter Chamberlain in another related post on forums here, but it might be worthwhile repeating here since it is a related issue and also to bring to the attentijon of Dwaine Maggart as well.

QUOTE

Well, frankly, I am having that exact same problem, disappointingly and sorry to say, as I want to standardize on Davinci Resolve. But with a reliability that it may work one day and then subsequent to a new upgrade, or graphics driver, or whatever, it won't work is a reliability I can not contend with when in the middle of the project. If you recall, on more then one occasion I suggested making a basic, intermediate, and advance level of Resolve for new users. That might very well carry over to the level of complexity and system demands too so that if an advanced level of Resolve is too demanding, at least a user can backtrack to intermediate or basic level of system demands to still be able to be productive. But I don't see that becoming a reality any time soon if it ever happens.

So with the 'loading waveform monitor' issue, I spend more time trying to figure out a resolution to the problem rather then being truly productive. Troubleshooting, the auto mechanic so to speak. I've uninstalled and reinstalled more then once for sure. Oh, and BTW, I DO have a more modern machine. Intel's Hades Canyon Core i7 released around mid 2018 with the AMD discrete graphics chip. My drivers are all up-to-date too through Intel's Driver & Support Assistant.
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en ... stant.html
It sniffs out my entire system online and if there are components that need updating, Intel allows me to download and automatically update as necessary.

So, although Brantley's situation might be needing a more modern computer that surely is not my case. I reckon then, until the problem eventually goes away, if it goes away, I need to carry on with another tool, i.e., Shotcut, etc., which, BTW, loads with no problem and quite quickly too.
FYI, am running, (frustratingly trying to) Resolve 15.2.3, the latest.

Assuming you have a Windows system:

In a File Explorer window, go to:

C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve

and run CaptureLogs

Then open Windows System Information and do a File - Save (Not a File Export), which will generate a .NFO file.

Place both those files on a file sharing site and provide links to the files here.

Hi Dwaine,

I have done as you instructed. The file saved as a .zip. (>500K) Here is a link to the file on Google Drive.
