Resolve just shuts off. Assistance-

PostTue Aug 15, 2017 6:05 pm

Hello everyone.

I was wondering if anyone has had any issues with Resolve simply just shutting off. I don't get any error messages it simply shuts off after maybe 5 or so minutes of work. I'm attempting to grade a short film in 4K.

breakdown of my MAC's specs
Late 15 iMac 5k Retina.
16 GB 1867 MHz DDR3
AMD Radeon R9 M380 2048 MB

I'm grading Red Dragon footage. I set my timeline to 3840x2160 import it everything runs smoothly but once I start coloring poof. I even downgraded from Version 12.5.6 to 12.3 since I read about some stability issues. I work at a Film school and my computer is essentially the same as theirs and the Mac there have been editing and grading similar footage no problem. So I'm open to any suggestions.

Thanks!

2 gigs of VRAM for a UHD timeline isn't going to cut it.

I think grading 4K on an iMac is going to be very dicey at best. You need to throw much bigger hardware at the system in order to make it run at an acceptable speed. You could do HD transcodes in real-time and I bet that would look fine, assuming you were delivering HD.

Even then I'd suggest to get the 4 GB GPU model.

We're actually doing R3D from a Dragon in HD timelines on the 2015 model with reasonable speed.
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.
