Waveform Sync Errors

PostFri Aug 18, 2017 9:00 pm

1. Select clips in the bin, right click>Auto-Sync Audio based on Waveform
2. Observe results. Man they're waaaaay off.

Using Resolve 14b7 under Windows 10. A CinemaDNG clip from the BMPCC (Rode Stereo VideoMic) was combined with the input channel from the Zoom H4n recording in 24/48 mode.

I have had the same problem

I select the clips and audio and click "sync to waveform and attach"

But when I pull the clip into the timeline Resolve has stretched the attached audio to fit the length of the video and it sounds awful and stretched out. The embedded audio in the video is still fine, but the attached audio is wrong.

I have tried everything I can imagine, but the results are the same. 'Tried single video clips and multiple clips to no avail.

PluralEyes will sync, but it cant export raw. So, I use it to find the sync timecode for the start of the audio clip, then manually sync in Resolve, using that sync timecode as a starting point.

The last version tried was b7

If you want to dropbox clips, I'll test them out for you on my machine.

I've just tried this with beta 8 with the same issue. XAVC-S 4K video file from an action cam and a longer length MP3 recorded from an audio recorder (ran out of space on the camera). After syncing with the 'sync via waveform and append' the audio is out of sync by a couple of seconds but it's messed with the pitch of the external audio file and I sound like one of the Chipmunks, it's pretty wacky what it's done to the audio file. I hate syncing manually, really hope this gets fixed!

I am having the same issue as you guys
at first I thought it was a frame rate problem, but after confirming its not, now I'm not sure what it is.
looking for the answer as well

does audio sync work in resolve?

Which sample rate is the audio? In many cases mp3 is 44.1 kHz.

Anyway, I found waveform based audio syncing in any NLE I have tried inferior to PluralEyes.
No, an iGPU is not enough, and you can't use HEVC 10 bit 4:2:2 in the free version.

In my case, both clips are 24/48 files.
