Cannot hear audio tracks in the timeline. Please help!

PostSun Aug 20, 2017 4:15 am

I have audio clips in audio tracks 1,2 & 3 on the timeline but I cannot hear any audio. Even the audio meters are blank.
The audio clips playback fine in the source viewer but not on the timeline.
I checked the volume/gain levels, everything seems to fine but I just cannot hear it.
Y any chance, Is it on mute?
Can someone please help?

Thanks in advance,

Zia

I'm having a similar problem. Updated to beta 14.7 and in the project I'm starting, one of my mp4 files wont display audio (can't hear or see the meters). Can't see it in the media page, or edit page (doesn't matter if it's in source or viewer). Other files work. The file works fine in other NLEs.

I had the same problem. Luckily the cure is easy. Convert the file to a wav. You can do it with a few clicks of the mouse in audacity, which is free (and brilliant). B7 doesn't seem to like mp4.

Not had any problems with the audio in 14.07. All my camera footage is mp4 with 255kbps 48k mpeg2-ACC-LC audio.

Hi,

I have MP4 + AC3 5.1 and no issue with DRV14B7.

Surely the encoding settings or the encoder?

What is certain is that MP4 with variable Bitrate, DR does not really like .... :(

MP3 is not supported, I have been using Media Encoder to create AIF files. Old School :D

MP3 is supported in V14. That said, the last few beta's have had some issues with MP3.

Hopefully beta 8 will have those all dealt with.

I'm on 14.7 & have had problems since 14.6, not hearing "in camera" audio from raw 4:1 Ursa Mini 4.6 files. My separately recorded audio WAV files were fine.
However, I discovered something weird. I could drop a video into a new project and not hear it, but if I dropped a 2nd one into the timeline, the exact same video, then I could hear the sound of the 2nd, but still not the first. I found that I could delete the 1st and the 2nd was still fine.

So try that next time you can't hear your audio, if your as desperate as I am to finish projects. Thank you

OK, I FOUND THE FIX!!!
1. The audio files need to be in wav file format (aif will probably work too but I haven't tried it).
2. All audio files will need to be converted to Sample Rate 48KHz
3. Sample Bit Size MUST be 16-bit.
The images below also exhibit the setting but are the conversion steps in iTunes. (Mac Users Only)
Open iTunes
Click Preference
then click the "General" Tab
click "Import Settings"
Import Using: Wave Encoder
Setting: Click "Custom" change the values to above settings.
