Audio I/O Interface

PostSun Sep 10, 2017 6:43 pm

I am using an Alesis MultiMix 8 Firewire for my desktop audio i/o. I am unable to locate it when opening Davinci Resolve. I was really hoping to use this inside of Fairlight. Is there a way to get this listed inside of the program preferences?

Is it not in main preferences section?

I have not used Resolve on Windows, but on my Mac I can use the FireWire audio interface by making it the default audio input and output in the MacOs system preferences (sound pane), and then selecting "Use System Audio Output" in the Resolve System Preferences dialog.

Thanks I just did that on my pc. That seems to allow me to allow it to appear in the patch window as for audio input. But it only lists 2 inputs from a 10 channel mixer. Also I am not able to record from the mixer. I followed the instructions in Section 65, pages 1130-1132, of the manual, but nothing seems to record. After I have armed the track and pressed record the program seems to start recording but nothing seems to actually record. The file does not remain on the track.

I am really at a loss here. I am still unable to record in the fairlight page. There is no way to select the audio interface in the Preferences dialog box. This version of Resolve seemed rushed. There are so many things missing from the fairlight page, for it to be a high level audio production program. There aren't any audio tools or plugins included. No de-noise, de-click, reverb, echo/delay, noise generator, tone generator, de-esser, pitch/time stretch, many other effects as well as various midi options. This is not a rant it is just an observation. I know that DR is a color correction and color grading tool and now a serious editing tool. The addition of Fairlight is a huge bonus, but not having the majority of the tools for audio post production is almost like not having added the page at all. Please don't take this a gripe
