im new to the BMPCC i have been having great results using RAW but i want to learn and understand the prores, what is the proper work flow for grading, do i need to first change the project setting color space to 4/2/2, is prores considered rec709 or would it somehow need to be converted to rec709? i have tried youtube and google with no good results, thanks

Have the camera record in "Film" mode and treat it like your RAW. You'll just loose the settings under the tab for RAW.

Yes. There is a specific one.

But you can also grade to your liking without any LUT, it'll give you more flexibility.

Yes. But log is different from every camera manufacturer. BM's is pretty easy to grade, basically you just increase contrast, preferably with a curve to rearrange some areas, add some saturation and you are already close.
