There are those who believe that software should be free. I understand that there exists a community of individuals who donate their time for all sorts of free stuff. Open source communities, for example. However, Black Magic Design is not a non-profit organization. The fact that they provide a free version of Resolve and Fusion is a mystery to me, particularly when you consider that the free versions are barely crippled.
Even more incredibly is the fact that they now sell the Studio version of Resolve for $299 (down from $999 which was already a great deal - no annual fee and so far, even major upgrades like 12.5 to 14 were free for Studio users).
I don't really like being in the mode of an apologist for BMD but whenever I see someone complain that the free version is lacking some feature for which they would have to pay $299 to get the Studio version, it really bugs me. I can't even imagine how the product team feels when they read these posts.
For those who wish to complain about how unfair it is that the free version lacks certain features, perhaps start a new thread and explain why you believe companies do not have a right to make a bit of coin for a lot of hard work... It would be an interesting read.
